Recently, MetroPlus Health Plan experienced a potential privacy breach involving some personal information (including name, member identification number, telephone number, and address) of 808 of our members. From May-July 2016, MetroPlus inadvertently sent this information to one of our vendors in an unsecured electronic data transfer. This incident was unintentional and re-training of necessary staff has taken place.
There is no evidence that the information has been misused, and we believe that the likelihood of such misuse is low. We informed affected members about this incident.
MetroPlus takes the protection of personal information very seriously, and we have implemented additional measures to protect that information and are doing everything we can to make sure this problem does not reoccur. We are committed to fully protecting all of the information entrusted to us. For additional information regarding this matter, please contact MetroPlus Member Services at 1-800-303-9626.
