Member Breach Notification

Recently, MetroPlus Health Plan experienced a privacy breach involving some protected health information of about 15,000 of our members. We discovered that a MetroPlus employee sent an e-mail containing personal information to a relative for assistance with a work-related action via an unsecured email. There is no evidence that the information has been misused, and we believe that the likelihood of such misuse is low. We informed affected members about this incident. MetroPlus takes the protection of personal information very seriously, and we have implemented additional measures to protect that information. We are committed to fully protecting all of the information entrusted to us.
