MetroPlus Gold
MetroPlus Gold is a health insurance plan designed specifically to meet the needs of HHC's employees. Benefits of MetroPlus Gold include:
• No-cost health care: The basic MetroPlus Gold plan is FREE for employees and their dependents.
• No co-pays and no deductibles: There are no out-of-pocket costs for visits to in-network doctors and covered in-network services.
• No paperwork: There are no bills or claim forms for in-network services.
• Comprehensive benefit package: Covered benefits include preventive care, well-child care, primary care, maternity care, specialty services, hospital care, emergency care, mental health services, lab services and care management programs for members with chronic diseases and other health issues. • Extensive provider and hospital network: MetroPlus has providers in over 12,000 offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. PCPs are located in private doctor's offices, neighborhood family care sites and hospitals. MetroPlus has agreements with over twenty hospitals in NYC, including HHC's hospitals and Diagnostic and Treatment Centers.
• Low cost optional rider for prescription drugs: The rider is available for a low monthly payroll deduction. The co-pay for drugs on the MetroPlus Gold formulary is $5 per prescription for a one month supply at a participating pharmacy and $5 per prescription for a three month supply using CVS Caremark Mail Order. MetroPlus Gold is only available to employees of MetroPlus and HHC, non-Medicare eligible HHC retirees, their spouses or qualified domestic partners, and eligible dependents.
Children of HHC employees who exceed the age limit for coverage as a dependent can purchase health benefits coverage through their parent's plan. To be eligible for the "Young Adult Option", the child must be 29 years of age or younger; unmarried; not eligible for health benefits through his/her employer; live, work or reside in the service area of the parent's plan; and not be covered by Medicare.
